15 Apr 2024 Works awarded for the upgrading of the Pescara-Rome railway line, Italy
The joint venture made up by ETERIA Consortium, of which ITINERA is a member, and Salcef has been awarded the design and construction of track-doubling for Lots 1 and 2 of the Pescara-Rome railway line upgrading project. The tenders, promoted by RFI (Rete Ferroviaria Italiana) for a total amount of about 480 million euros, are partly financed by Development and Cohesion Funds.
The Lot 1 works for the Interporto d’Abruzzo – Manoppello section, worth 142.7 million euros, consist of doubling the line for about 5 kilometers closely alongside the existing track and upgrading the Manoppello station with accessibility improvements. A new electrical substation is also planned to cope with the strengthening of the line.
Lot 2 interventions for the Manoppello – Scafa section, worth 334.9 million euros, will take the form of line doubling for about 8 km, partly in close flanking and partly in track variant. The Scafa and Alanno stations will be upgraded, the latter with a bicycle-pedestrian underpass and new parking spaces for passenger cars and buses.
The interventions are part of RFI’s broader plan to upgrade the Rome-Pescara line in the center of Italy, aimed at reducing travel time and increasing train frequency.
